Taxable Area extension to Pontian Town

Effective beginning 14th March 1990, through Government Gazette no. 1387, Volume 34, No. 24 (Warta Kerajaan No. 1387, Jilid 34, Bilangan 24) dated 22nd  November 1990, taxable area of Pontian District Council (for Bandar Pontian only) have been expanded as in Gazette Plan PW 1921 (Pelan Warta PW 1921) with an addition of 590 acres. Areas involved are a section of Jalan Parit Masjid, Jalan Parit Semerah and Jalan Parit Ibrahim. This expansion does not involve the Pontian District Council for its branches.

Expansion of Taxable Areas For Bandar Pontian
Beginning 22nd April 2004, through Government Gazette dated 22nd April 2004, Volume 48, No. 9 JPU 33 (Jilid 48, No. 9 JPU 33), effective beginning 14th March 1990, through Government Gazette No. 1387, Volume 34 (Warta Kerajaan No. 1387, Jilid 34), administration area of Pontian District Council was expanded to Pulau Kukup, Tanjung Piai, Serkat and area of vicinity up  to Sungai Pulai with an additional area size of 8302.7 Hectares.

Benut
This small town is located approximately 24 km from Bandar Pontian in Jalan Batu Pahat. Benut can be considered as a service and business centre for residents of Mukim Benut and Sungai Pinggan. The number of total residents in the town is 3,500 people (estimated in 1988). There are approximately 717 holds and 403 building units which are eligibly taxable with Property Tax. Size of administration area for the small town is 165.6 hectares.

Ayer Baloi
A small town situated approximately 14 km from Bandar Pontian in Jalan Batu Pahat, as a trading centre for residents of Mukim Ayer Baloi and Api-api. Residents of this small town are a total of 2,530 people (estimated in 1988). Meanwhile, there are approximately 252 holds consisting mostly of agriculture hold and 354 building units eligibly taxable with Property Tax. Size of administration area for the small town is 240.8 hectares.

Permas
It is known as the smallest Council Branch which only contains 84 holds and 175 building units eligibly taxable with Property Tax. The number of total residents is 1,495 people (estimated in 1988) and it is situated approximately 16 km in the South of Bandar Pontian. It has become a focus for residents of Mukim Serkat and Ayer Masin, and also a route for domestic and foreign tourists to the seafood centre in Kukup. Size of administration area for the small town is 131.6 hectares.
